From a Thanksgiving Day address:
You have been giving your full attention to a turkey stuffed with sage; it is now time to consider a sage stuffed with turkey.
– William M. Evarts, 1818-1901, US Secretary of State, US Attorney General and US Senator from New York. And, before that, a student at Harvard Law School.
Just in case you need a sagacious quip for your own turkey or tofurkey speech, this quote is from And I Quote: The Definitive Collecton of Quotes, Sayings, and Jokes for the Contemporary Speechmaker by Ashton Applewhite, Tripp Evans, Andrew Frothingham.
