Now available: 160,000 hours!

Can’t get enough of Congress? Is Book TV your idea of Must-see TV? If so, you’ll be excited to learn that “virtually every minute” of C-SPAN’s archives for the last 23 years are now available at The total? 160,000 hours. An official announcement will be made on Wednesday.

Only 10,000 hours of footage prior to 1987 have survived, but C-SPAN archivists are working on that too. I, for one, can’t wait to watch the Iran-Contra hearings again. If last year’s re-airing of that other 1980s classic, V, is anything to go on, it’ll be a nostalgic blast!

The only downside to this tremendous archival work? If you want to watch it all, you’ll need to dedicate 18 years to the endeavor.
