According to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), a research center at Syracuse University, the IRS “continues to withhold crucial statistical data the public needs to judge how the agency is enforcing the nation’s tax laws,” in defiance of three court orders. Susan Long, an expert on the IRS and co-director of TRAC, filed a motion today in the Federal District Court in Seattle requesting the court to enforce its orders directing the IRS to produce the data under the Freedom of Information Act.
The filing and a press release are available online.
