Congratulations to Alexia Roberts ‘25, Harvard Law School’s student honoree for the 2023 American Association of Law Schools (AALS) Pro Bono and Access to Justice Section’s Pro Bono Honor Roll! The Pro Bono Honor Roll acknowledges and highlights the pro bono work of individuals engaging in, expanding, and/or supporting their law school community in providing pro bono legal services.

Roberts is recognized for her outstanding commitment to pro bono service as a member of Harvard Defenders. During her 1L year, Roberts completed the highest number of pro bono hours in her class as a member of the student practice organization (SPO), which represents low-income Massachusetts community members in criminal show-cause hearings. This year, Roberts has taken on a new leadership position as the SPO’s intake director.

On October 26, as a part of Pro Bono Week, the staff and students of Harvard Defenders threw a surprise celebration for Roberts during a team meeting, complete with flowers and champagne. They packed the room and cheered and applauded for Roberts, smiling with appreciation for their beloved peer.

In addition to her work in Harvard Defenders, Roberts is a member of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. She is also on the board of the Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Journal and is a member of the Black Law Students Association. She spent her 1L summer interning at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia in their Civil Legal Services Division.

Congratulations, Alexia!
